The one thing that most women do not leave their homes without is, of course, the bra. No matter what size your breasts are, big or small, you always wear them for the small ones to appear bigger and the big ones to be tighter. However, we all know the inconvenience it gives us during the day, and all we ever think about is going home, unclasping our bras and putting on our comfortable dresses.
Wearing a bra daily
Have you ever thought about going to work without a bra? Do you get any benefits from wearing a bra, or is it something society has installed without letting us choose? Is wearing a bra a risk to your health and a direct link to cancer?
Yes, it is always useful to ask ourselves about our daily routines, as wearing a bra is, in order to make ourselves aware of both the benefits and the consequences.
Benefits of wearing a bra:
Getting a tight and firm look at your breasts boosts your self-confidence. On the other hand, you are the one who knows what your breasts actually look like, and this will give you only temporary satisfaction.
Well, since I cannot think of any other benefit of wearing a bra, it is time to take a closer look at all the risks it poses.
Risks from wearing a bra:
Wearing a bra is linked to developing cancer. In a study conducted by Syd and Soma Singer in May of 1991, 4,000 women in 5 major U.S. cities were interviewed. All of the women interviewed shared common descent and average income and were aged between 30 and Almost half of them had been diagnosed with breast cancer.
The majority of the women interviewed said that they were not satisfied with the shape and size of their breasts, so they wore a bra for a better appearance only. 3 out of 4 of these women who wore their bras to sleep contracted breast cancer, and 1 in 7 women who wore their bras for more than 12 hours a day did too.
This study concluded that just 1 in 168 women who did not wear a bra contracted breast cancer, which is as rare as in men getting breast cancer.
Wearing a bra increases the temperature of your breasts and the levels of the hormone called prolactin, which can cause breast cancer.
Another study, including 320 women over 15 years, also shows that bras do the work that the breast ligaments should naturally be doing, and in such a way, bras make your breasts saggy and lazy.
Reconsider
The risks above are supported by alarming facts and research that show how bras interfere with your health. It is always more important to be healthy than to look good in front of others. Therefore, this will make you think twice before putting a bra on in the morning.
